Usage Tips
To get the most of your Packmate bags and prolong their life as much as possible, we’ve compiled some useful tips for you:
Flat Vacuum
High Volume Vacuum
Travel Roll
General advice
- Avoid ‘over-filling’ the bags. If you leave a couple of inches of space between the contents and the zipper, this will make the bag easier to close and seal
- Ideally you should fill and close the bag on a firm, flat surface. To close, hold down on the corner of the zipper. Push white slider across whilst maintaining pressure. Run the slider back and forth two or three times to ensure complete seal
- Always immediately replace the white slider back onto the end of the bag if for any reason it becomes unattached
- To open the bag, grasp the material either side of the seal end of the bag and gently prise open (much as you would a packet of crisps!)
- Please take care when removing bags from drawers, or from under a bed etc that there no sharp objects that could catch the bag (do so gently to be on the safe side)
- When storing empty bags, try and store flat rather than folding the zipper/seal
- We recommend you ‘fluff’ clothes and bedding up every six months and replace into the bags if you are storing long term. This will help avoid wrinkles and help to keep fresh
Product-specific tips
- Travel Roll bags are designed to have the air gently rolled out through a one way valve built into the end of the bag, but a vacuum can also be used by simply placing the nozzle into the bag opening, removing the nozzle and quickly sealing
- High volume bags have a gusted bottom and are therefore best filled in an ‘upright’ position with bag bottom fully opened out
- High volume bags are designed to compress into a cube shape – when vacuuming out the air you can gently press on the sides and top of the bag to help form the shape, which will make it easier to stack with other bags
Bag contents
- Please avoid filling the bags with heavy or sharp objects – this is not the intended use and is likely to result in bags tearing or being punctured
- When compressing bags with down duvets or pillows, we advise you to stop short of compressing bags completely, as the feathers may puncture the bags
- When storing bedding and clothing in the bags, folding items first will considerably increase the space saved
- Avoid storing food items in the bag
- Do not store leather items in the bags as the compression potential is minimal and could result in creases in the leather
